Anthony Vincent Trader

April 5, 1933 ~ June 7, 2017 (age 84) 84 Years Old

On June 7, 2017 Anthony “Tony” Trader passed away peacefully in his sleep at the age of 84 - exactly 40 years to the day of the death of his father. Tony leaves behind his bride of 57 years, Theresa (Ostroskie).  He will be greatly missed by his children; Michael (Monica), Gerard (Helen), Larry, Rosanne (Vernon Piecarskie) and Andrew (Lori).  His 15 grandchildren will miss their grandpa’s joking manner; Justin, Casey, Peter, Amanda, Melissa, James, Jeremy, Sydney, Nicholas, Joseph, Stephen, Megan, Lisa, Kylie and Hannah.  Two great granddaughters recently completed his family; Aleeah and Andie.

Tony was a lover of the outdoors. Hunting was his favorite pastime, and the stories of how he bagged the latest buck would be repeated numerous times over the following year.  He spent a lot of time in the garden and, at the end of each day, would report on how many potato bugs he had picked. He was a handyman who completed many projects: boats, a house, and a cottage are a few of his greatest accomplishments.  He was not complete unless he was sporting a bandaid.  For most of his life, there was nothing he couldn’t fix. However, after several strokes and the onset of dementia, he began breaking everything he had previously fixed.

He supported his boys through all their hockey and baseball ventures, being their biggest supporter, and he always had advice for the guys in stripes. Yet, he was a disciplinarian who would not hesitate to scold the boys, even when his beloved daughter was clearly at fault.

He is the son of the late Peter and Anastasia Trader.  He is survived by his siblings Leonard (Rose Marie), Hedwig Kuiack (Alphonse), Rose Ritchie (Rance), Barbara Blank (Gerard) and Edward (Eleanor).  He is predeceased by Raymond, Theresa, Doreen, Anna Mary, Mary Herman and 9 siblings in infancy.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Dawes and the staff at the Valley Manor for the excellent care.

Donations in Tony’s memory can be made to the St. Francis Valley Healthcare Foundation or St. Hedwig Building Fund.
