Martin Michael Bloskie
Martin Michael Bloskie (November 02, 1938 – December 23, 2017) died peacefully in his sleep in his seventy ninth year. After high school and while working the fields on the family farm he was approached about teaching. Thus began the stories of the “old days” when he had to walk many miles to teach at the local one room school. During his 30 years as both a teacher and then principal, he was especially proud to have taught different generations of families in the community. Martin had a green thumb; he could often be seen puttering in the garden on the great potato bug hunt. After retiring he found a passion for golf, playing several times a week with only a small break for the Snowbird migration to Florida.
Martin is predeceased by his loving daughter Ann Marie and his wife Dorothy (Matusheskie) with whom they shared 34 years of marriage. After Dorothy’s passing, he found love with Shirlee Embro. He will be greatly missed by his children Paul (Cindy) Bloskie, Karen Henderson and step daughter Stacey Embro. He was a cherished grandfather to A.J., Gabriel and Rochelle.
He is survived by his sibling Margaret Rose (Ken) Lorbetskie and sisters-in-law Greta Bloskie and Mary Bloskie. He is predeceased by his parents John and Victoria (Norlock) Bloskie, baby brother Alphonse, brothers Felix, Dominic, Lawrence, Zigmund and sister Rita Leduc.
Visitation to be held at the Heubner Funeral Home, Barry’s Bay on Friday December 29, 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 7:00-9:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held at St. Hedwig’s Church on Saturday December 30, at 11:00 a.m. Spring Interment in the Parish Cemetery at a later date.
The family would appreciate donations to the Ann Marie Bloskie Memorial Bursary.
We will miss hearing your voice and forever love you.
