(Morris) Murray Karl Liedtke passed away November 7th 2017 in his 79th year. Born at home in Raglan Twp Renfrew County the 21 day of April 1938 the 3rd son and 5th child of Arnold A. and Hattie (Hedwig Marquardt) Liedtke. 1954, Murray travelled to Stratford Ontario where he worked for the CNR, White Packing Plant, Canada Post delivery contract, contractor’s assistant for Verwymeren & Bauer Contracting, The Samsonite Corp. before opening Liedtke Designs in 1997. He married Bernice (Bauer) Liedtke the 12th day of September 1959. Residing in Stratford where the couple raised two sons: Jeffrey Karl (Karen) Liedtke, Stratford On. and David Murray Liedtke, Palmer Rapids On. In his youth, Murray contracted Polio which resulted in months of treatment in Ottawa/Civic Hospital and more months of rehabilitation at home with no indoor plumbing or electricity. At age sixteen, he ventured to Stratford where his brother, Wesley (Ruby), and sister, Margy (John Nichol), lived with their families. He enjoyed all sports; playing darts with local teams and a darts team that entered to urnaments, local team curling, watching sports on TV or playing pick-up hockey occasionally. Most week-day evenings he spent renovating other peoples homes. He served on the Building Committee of Zion Lutheran Church in Stratford for a number of years then on Church Council at St Stephen’s Lutheran Church Schutt Ontario for two years. In the year 2000, Murray and his wife moved back to Palmer Rapids area in Raglan Twp. where his health began to fail and challenges with cancer, heart, & diabetes became the norm. Left to celebrate Murray’s life are his wife of fifty-eight years; his sons and daughter-in-law, four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, Godchild, Allan Liedtke, and many Marquardt, Marquette, Liedtke cousins. Predeceased by his Liedtke & Marquardt grandparents, his parents Arnold & Hattie, brothers; Wesley and Edward and sisters; Velma and Margy There will be no funeral home visitation. Cremation at Murray’s request. Family and friends will celebrate his life at a date suitable to the majority of the family.
