Aniela (Juchniewicz) Cyfko
June 8th, 1939 - July 12th, 2021

It is with profound sadness to announce the passing of our dear mother, Aniela (Juchniewicz) Cyfko in her 83rd year, at the Ottawa Heart Institute. Last Rites were administered with Aniela's son's by her side. 

Aniela is lovingly remembered by her son's George (Rosella), Leslie (Lorena), Edward (Heidi), Greg, and; her 11 grandchildren: Allesandro, James, John, Monika, Roman, Lauren, Melanie, Madeline, Mark, Blake and Ben. Aniela's husband of 53 years, Tadeusz Jan Cyfko pre-deceased her on Mother's Day 2015. Mom has now joined her husband Tadeusz in God's loving embrace. 

Our mom Aniela was born in Wilno, Poland just prior to WW2. In capturing mom's essence, Aniela was: a Siberia, Russia concentration camp survivor; a UN refugee; a British ex-pat; a career Registered Nurse; a church volunteer; an avid and frequent world traveler; a sports fan; a hobbiest; well read and broad- cultured with a special interest in history, literature and study of the world's Royal families, and; a humanist. Our mom Aniela was genuinely eager to listen to people's stories - because she came with a profound story of her life. For those who knew Aniela, there's no question she touched your life one way or another. That was her character, her life's mission.

A poem by Thomas Gray resonated with our mother Aniela to be shared upon her passing:

If I Should Die
If I should die and leave you
Be not like the others, quick undone 
Who keep long vigils by the silent
dust and weep.
For my sake turn to life and smile
Nerving thy heart and trembling 
hand to comfort weaker souls than thee.
Complete these unfinished tasks of mine 
And I perchance may therein comfort thee.

Masks are now mandatory to enter the funeral home/church/service location.  You must remain 6 feet apart while waiting to be allowed inside and you must sign in with your name and phone number once you enter for contact tracing purposes.
