Obituary

Constance Chippure, a beacon of love and joy, passed away peacefully at the age of 99. Constance was the beloved wife of the late Anthony Chippure. Constance’s greatest joy was her family, including her 5 children, Robert (Suzanne) Chippure, Sylvia (Sylas) Dombrowski, Anthony (Eithne) Chippure, Jocelyn (Charlie) Mackey and Wendy (Daniel) Shular. She loved all of her precious grandchildren, Tanya, Troy, Ian, Mitchel, Stephanie, Ryan, Lance, Safron, Sloan and Ross. As a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, her legacy is evident in the generations she leaves behind.

Born in the Netherlands, she was the daughter of Constant Sprenger and Tryntje VanderBen. She was recently predeceased by her brothers, Bob and Rudy Sprenger. As a Dutch war bride, she came to Canada by boat. She arrived in Halifax at Pier 21, on June 12th, 1946. Constance faced challenges with bravery and resiliency that inspired everyone who had the privilege to know her.

As a pillar of the community, Constance belonged to many organisations and spent her time volunteering. Such organisations include, Petticoat Bridge Club, Opeongo Seniors Center, Catholic Women’s League and the Royal Canadian Legion. Professionally, she worked at the St. Francis Memorial Hospital as a healthcare aid. She had an innate gift for making those around her feel special and loved.

Constance’s life was full of rich memories woven with threads of laughter, strength and an unwavering commitment to her family and friends. She was strong spirited and her laughter was contagious. She was an avid bridge player who loved a good hand! She was always busy making plans for the next great travelling experience whether it be across an ocean or a fun camping trip.

The entire family would like to extend gratitude to everyone who has been part of Constance's incredible journey. She will be missed tremendously. They invite all to join in celebrating her life and sharing stories of joy, laughter and love. We would like to thank the Valley Manor for the wonderful care she received. For those wishing to make a donation in Constance's memory, the family has requested donations be given to the Valley Manor Nursing Home in Barry’s Bay. For family and friends, there will be a Catholic mass at St. Lawrence O’Toole on Friday, August 25, 2023, at 11:00 am.
