Obituary

Ed “Mushroom Man” Peplinski, passed peacefully at home surrounded by family. Ed had quite the extraordinary life, being born in Poland, surviving Nazis in World War II, serving in the Polish military, and being a super-star local soccer player. He married his sweetheart, Stefania, had baby Basia (Barb), and took the MS Stefan Batory ocean liner to Canada to start a new life in 1960. Along came baby Krysia (Krys).

After building a life, working 36 years at DeHavilland Aircraft in Toronto, and being an annual visitor to Kaszuby to enjoy the fishing, mushroom picking, and numerous delightful friends he made along the way, he also welcomed Doug (the son he would have had) to the family. After the passing of his beloved Stefa, Ed moved full-time to Palmer Rapids and lived his life “like a king”! At 92 years old, cancer got the best of him, but he died the way he liked to live: In his home surrounded by nature and by loved ones.

A special thank you to the volunteers and organizers at the Madawaska Valley Hospice Palliative Care. You are so appreciated. Should you wish to do something in his memory, Ed and his family would appreciate donations be made to your favourite or local animal shelter, rescue, or animal hospital.
