Esther Shalla Obituary

Esther Barbara (Kulas) Shalla

November 20, 1930 - April 8, 2020 (age 89)

It is with broken hearts and profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beautiful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother at Valley Manor. Cherished and much loved mom of Noella (Dr. Brian Kirkham) Ephrata, Washington; Patrick (Rosemary Paplinskie) Madawaska; Maureen (Jim O'Malley) Barry's Bay; Randy,Barry's Bay; Wayne (Debbie Cleroux) Orleans and Kenneth, Barry's Bay. Very special granny to Sandra-Jean and Neil Shalla; Jaymes (Amanda) and Taylor Kirkham; Emma and Nathan Shalla; Travis (Summer) Klingbeil; Mikaela and Jacob Shalla and Brianna Shalla (Ben). Loving great-granny to Flynn and Sophie Kirkham; Parker, Mason and Everly Klingbeil and Rhett Coish.

Predeceased by her loving husband Sylvester (2006), sons Neil (2001), Michael (1957), an infant daughter (1958); parents Frank (1938) and Mary (Lorbetskie) (1973); brothers Thomas, Sylvester, Desmond, Bronas and sisters Marcella Kulas, Emily Morris and Eileen Strack. Survived by her sister Delores Kulas and sister-in-law Betty Shalla (late Dominic) and brother-in-law Ronnie Shalla (Alice).

Mom was a " jill" of all trades and wasn't afraid to tackle any project large or small, the more challenging the better. She was an accomplished seamstress, loved to quilt and she made sure each family member has one to treasure forever. Her homemade bread, buns and cookies will be sorely missed. She was an avid gardener and vegetables were always plentiful and beautiful flowers bloomed from spring into the fall. She was a faithful member of St. Hedwig Parish and the Sacred Heart League and until her health started to fail, she loved to sing in the choir and could be seen volunteering at many church functions.

The family would like to gratefully thank Dr. Dawes, the PSW staff at CarePartners and Bayshore and the compassionate and caring staff at Valley Manor and Water Tower Lodge. You truly have been our guardian angels. Thank you to Father Pawel Ratajczak for the blessing and prayers on such short notice. To Warren, Joe and staff, we are very grateful for your professionalism and kindness at this most difficult time.

A private family gathering will be held at Heubner Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 14, 2020 with burial to follow at St. Hedwig Parish Cemetery at 10:30 am. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Hedwig Building Fund or St. Francis Valley Healthcare Foundation (Valley Manor Building Fund) would be appreciated. * During this social distancing time, please contact the charitable organizations directly on how you may contribute by phone or online.

MOTHER

To one who bears the sweetest name
And adds a luster to the same
Who shares our joys
Who cheers when sad
The greatest friend we ever had
Long life to her for there's no other
Can take the place of our Dear Mother.

We will miss her beautiful smile. Her death leaves a heartache no one can heal but her love leaves a memory no one can steal.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
How do you know Esther Barbara (Kulas) Shalla?
