Evelyn Lapenskie

November 29, 1944 - January 6, 2020

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts we announce the passing of Evelyn Lapenskie (nee Sernoskie), loving wife of Xavier, cherished mother of Glen (Teena), Lori (Barry), Rebecca (Mike), Greg (Shelley), and treasured grandmother of Sarah, Ryan, Hannah, Tyler, Amber, Jacob, Brittney, Haley and Logan. Evelyn passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on January 6, 2020, at the age of 75, after a long battle with lung cancer. She was the most kind and caring person with a heart of gold. She enjoyed spending her retirement baking, golfing and hunting with her husband, card-playing with her family and most of all spending every other minute with her cherished grandchildren. She will be missed beyond belief.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 25th, 2020, from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 406, 250 John Street, Barry’s Bay, Ontario.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you offer donations to the Madawaska Valley Hospice (of which Evelyn was a kind-hearted volunteer) or the Canadian Cancer Society.

And now, “No time to cry, don’t shed a tear, I am with God, in spirit I am here…Keep the faith, my spirit is light, I am at peace now, I fought a good fight.”
