Hubert Perrier Obituary

Hubert Perrier

Passed away Tuesday, February 8 at Madawaska Valley Hospice with Cindy, Ross and Sue by his side. At 93, Hubert was the last surviving member of his family, predeceased by his brothers Ernie and Raymond and sisters, Rita, Ursula and Margaret. Hubert married Muriel (deceased) and they lived in Toronto where he had a long and storied career with the Toronto Transit Commission.

When he retired, he returned to Combermere, where he was affectionately known as the ‘rural rambler’ by all his Valley friends. When he wasn’t cheering on his favorite teams the Blue Jays and the Senators, he would travel. Whether the trip was short or long, he always loved returning home to his chair on the porch, watching the boats on the river and spending hours talking to inevitable visitors and telling them mostly true stories about the TTC, the history of the Valley and his travels. Of course, Hubert was always accompanied by one of his favorite pets, Jake, Katie or Pushkin.

Hubert will be dearly missed by family, friends and neighbors, especially those at Madonna House and St. Joseph’s both of whom played a large part in Hubert’s life in Combermere, particularly at the museum or his farm when the maple syrup was running.

A heartfelt Thank You is extended to St. Francis Memorial Hospital and Madawaska Valley Hospice for the extraordinary and compassionate care provided.

Visitation at Heubner Funeral Home on Thursday, February 10 from 3:00 – 5:00 PM and 7:00 – 9:00 PM.

Mass and Burial to take place at Holy Canadian Martyrs Parish, Madawaska Valley in May 2022 and will be followed by a Celebration of Life.

In Hubert’s honor, donations to Madawaska Valley Hospice or to your favorite pet charity would be appreciated.
