JOHN CHRISTIE ACKNEY
John Christie Ackney, resident of Madawaska, Ontario, formerly of Uxbridge, passed away on Friday July 30,2021 at St. Francis Memorial Hospital at age 91.
John Ackney was born November 24,1929 in Reach Township, Uxbridge, Ontario and was a long-time employee with Miller Paving Limited before moving to Madawaska. He is survived by his sister Phyllis Vessey and his children Jill Bresnahan and Brian Ackney and fondly remembered by Daughter-in-law Krystyna Ackney, Grandchildren Ashley Bresnahan (Jeff Pugh) and Allan Bresnahan (Kara). John will be sadly missed by Great Grandchildren Rylynn and Sierra Pugh and John Bresnahan. He was predeceased by his wife Ruth Elizabeth Merrick in 2007.
The Ackney family would like to thank the Doctors, Nurses and Staff at St. Francis Memorial Hospital and the South Algonquin Family Health Team, with special appreciation for the wonderful staff at Madawaska Valley Hospice Palliative Care Centre. Thank you to the many members of our extended family and the many Friends for your heart felt prayers and condolences during this difficult time. The funeral service for John Christie Ackney will be held privately due to spacing limitations, on Wednesday August 4,2021 at 11 a.m. at the Heubner Funeral Home in Barry’s Bay, Ontario. Visitation will be on Tuesday August 3,2021 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Interment at St. Paul St. James Cemetery, Highway 523, Madawaska, Ontario.
