Josephine Lentz Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a wonderful wife, mother, granny, sister, aunt, and friend. Josephine (Mom) passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home in Ottawa in the early morning of Friday, March 26, 2021. Loving wife of Edward. Loving mother of David (Annie), Donald (Jenny), Danny (Vanessa), Kimberly (Ayrton), Darren (Rachel/Georgina), and Dana (predeceased). Loving grandmother of Carlin (Brielle) Lentz, Kayla (Andrew) MacKay, Kieran (Sarah) Lentz, Jared (Kat) Hull, Jamie (Sara) Hull, Ella Lentz, Christian Sargusingh, Joshua Sargusingh, Faith Sargusingh, Skyler Lentz, and Alyssa Lentz.

She is predeceased by her parents John Leon and Violet May (née Wasmund) Lacombe, her brothers Reginald and Richard Lacombe, her sister Gladys Burke, and her brothers-in-law Guy Charlebois, Reginald Gagnon, and sister-in-law Evie Lacombe. She will be lovingly remembered by brother Lucien (Grace) Lacombe, and sisters Carol-Ann (Denis) Rheaume, Donna-Mae Cameron, Norine Gagnon, Glenna (Edward) Mintha, Jean Ouimet, Jackie (Chris) Taylor, Marie (Glen) Gallagher, John Lacombe and brother-in-law MJ Burke. Josephine will also be missed by her many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Josephine returned to the Madawaska area during her retirement years, where she volunteered for the Cancer Society, Madawaska Recreation Committee, St. Matthews Parish and Barry’s Bay Home Support for many years. South Algonquin have lost a pillar of their community. In her later years, she returned to Ottawa and continued knitting for family and for the Saint Francis Memorial Hospital Auxiliary Gift Shop. She will be remembered fondly for many things including her love of baking, knitting, gardening, and the great outdoors.

There will be visitation (by RSVP below only) from 9:00 to 10:00 am at the Funeral Home on Monday, April 5, 2021 followed by a private funeral service for family, at 11:00 am at St. Matthews Catholic Church in Madawaska, ON. The plan is to live-stream the funeral service; https://www.facebook.com/kim.lentz.581

In early August, family and friends will be invited to a memorial mass followed by an internment at the cemetery, with a celebration of life and a luncheon to honour Josephine. Please check back at this website for details or contact immediate family directly.

The family is sincerely grateful to the wonderful staff at the Ottawa Heart Institute during Josephine’s stay last summer. In-lieu-of flowers, donations can be made to the Ottawa Heart Institute, Arthritis Society, St. Francis Memorial Hospital, or any other charitable organization you choose.

Her family would like to thank everyone for their heart-felt condolences, kind words of comfort, and prayers. She will be forever missed in our hearts. We love you mom. ❤️❤️❤️
