Sophie Bellisle Obituary

Sophie Bellisle (nee Pawluk) passed away peacefully at St. Francis Memorial Hospital on July 5, 2019 at the age of 90. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, James (Jim) and their children Raymond (Susy), Shelley, and Robbie (Jackie), grandchildren; Steven (Rachel), Ashley and Zachary and her sister Annabelle (Ann). Sophie was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Dora Pawluk and her siblings Jean, Mike, Walter and Peter.

Sophie was born on August 19, 1928 in Uhrynow Dolny, Poland. Her family immigrated to Canada in 1929 and settled in the Abernathy District in Saskatchewan. In 1951 she travelled to Sudbury where she met Jim. They were married in Combermere in 1952 and returned to the Sudbury area where they lived for 50 years before building a home and moving to Combermere in 2002. Sophie was an exceptional homemaker with a passion for gardening. She was an excellent cook and baker and loved entertaining family and friends. Her many pleasures included wintering in Arizona, listening to good, old-time music and dancing – especially the Polka.

The family would like to thank Dr. Malinowski and the nursing and care teams at Water Tower Lodge, Bayshore Healthcare and St. Francis Memorial Hospital for their exceptional kindness and loving care of Sophie.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at St. Paul’s Anglican Cemetery in Combermere. A Celebration of Life to honor Sophie will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Francis Valley Healthcare Foundation.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
