Yvonne May Mahon (nee Lewis)
January 4,1931 – September 27, 2021
On the morning of Monday, September 27, Yvonne Mahon of Combermere passed away in her 91st year. She was the loving wife of 67 years to Roger William Mahon. She loved her children, Patricia (George) McIvor, Brenda (William) Dulmage, Phoebe (Allan) Eccles and James (Mary) Mahon. She will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren: Diana (“Boomer”) MacCormack, Jennifer (Dan) Medland, Roger (Amber) Ellis, James Dulmage, Holly Eccles, Emily Dulmage, Zachary McIvor, Andrea Mahon, Aisling Mahon and Kayleigh Mahon, and her great grandchildren, Jake and Kyle Medland, and Richard and Calie MacCormack.
Yvonne was predeceased by her parents Thomas and Doris Lewis, as well as her sister Sandra Sue Lewis. She is survived by her dear sister Merilyn Chalmers of St. Catharines, ON.
She will be fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews, family and friends.
Born and raised in Port Colborne, ON, she became the secretary of the Port Colborne High School. The family later moved to Peterborough, ON, where Yvonne became a founding member of the Peterborough Chapter of the Alzheimers Society. She was very sociable and enjoyed meeting people so she became their fundraiser, organizing many bazaars. She also volunteered for the Peterborough Agricultural Society. She has resided in Combermere for the last 30+ years.
The family would like to specially thank her physician, Dr. Meeking, the staff at St. Francis Memorial Hospital and the staff of the Hospice/ Palliative Care Unit at the St. Francis Hospital in Barry’s Bay.
Visitation will take place at Heubner Funeral Home, 43 Stafford Street in Barry’s Bay from 2 to 3 p.m. on Thursday September 30th, 2021. For those wishing to attend, there will be a church service at the Holy Canadian Martyrs Parish in Combermere on September 30th at 4 p.m. Cremation to follow.
If desired, donations would be appreciated by the family to the Palliative Care Unit ( Hospice) at St. Francis Hospital, Barry’s Bay or to the Peterborough Alzheimer’s Society.
